As Apple has been releasing their newer generations of the ipods such as ipod touch etc, they’ve also released this beautiful masterpiece called “MacBook Air“. With it’s incredible thickness of 0.76 inch, it has been gathering everyone’s attention recently. When you buy a laptop these days, the usual priorities would be its size/thickness, weight, specs. Although I own an ipod, I must say I never liked apple for some reason. But I can’t criticize this one!
Other than its thickness of 0.76 and 13.3 inch screen, the rest seem comparable with any other ones out there. As of now, they’re offering 1.6 ghz intel core 2 duo, with an option up to 1.8 ghz. The battery life is tested to last around 5 hours. In my opinion, their 80 gb storage isn’t enough. Although not many laptop users would need much, but why waste 2 gb ram just for 80 gb? It doesn’t seem like they’re offering any upgrades either.

Another downside of this beautiful piece is that people have been complaining greatly about how so much things are not upgradeable. Firstly, the RAM. In my opnion as a normal pc user, yes 2 gb is good enough. Even 512 mb on my pc isn’t too bad. But there are those who over cloak their system to its maximum. Too bad the greatness of its thinness also brings some downsides?
Oh, I almost forgot, the greatest downside would be its starting cost of $1,799 for 1.6 GHz one. Unbelievably, 1.8 GHz one is calling for $3,098.
Insane eh?

The faster model is not just .2 ghz faster, it also replaces the 80 GB hard drive with 64 GB of flash instead. It’s ridiculously expensive but if you can afford it, it will blow you away. Way faster than a hard drive, less prone to failure since no moving parts, and less of a drain on your battery. Also keep in mind that Apple still offers cheap laptops (as low as $1100) and full-featured laptops with dual-core processors, expandable RAM and large disks. The MacBook Air is intended to fulfill a totally different niche - for people who want the lightest thing you can possibly get that can still run today’s everyday applications. Nobody else offers a computer that does so much and is so thin or weighs so little. |

yes, thanks for your further information. The flash drive would indeed allow much safer and quicker process, but this macbook air is so thin… I wonder what would happen if someone dropped this thing… |
insane…its only .2 ghz higher and this much difference???!!!
