Problems with Current Blu-ray Players with Updates

blue-ray-player.JPG

Thinking back to those days when CD Roms became a big hit after the record players, Blu-ray players now dominate with its amazing real-like graphics. But can this get even better? The answer’s Yes. By October of 2008, Blu-ray players will use something called Profile 2.0 which would allow Internet Features labeled with BD Live. However, there’s a problem. Today’s current players will not, that’s right, it won’t be able to, play any future changes on Blu-ray discs. As our current players use Profile 1.0 Standard, it won’t recognize bonus features.

But there’s one exception to this…”Playstation 3“…!

As Playstation 3 allows firmware upgrades, it is reported that the changes made on blu-ray discs can be played with a simple firmware upgrade. Cheers to those with PS3!

For those with the standalone Blu-ray players, I don’t know what to tell you guys…

Okay, I am down with the fact the Sony is making all current Blu-ray players obsolete, but this article is horribly written. For instance it states the Blu-ray’s “amazing real-like graphics” will get better with 2.0 because of BD Live … WTF? how will internet access for Blu-ray players make “amazing real-like graphics” better.

This just shows how delusional Blu-ray fan boys are. You are dominating sales of a product that by all accounts will be obsolere in October. Secondly, according to this article, if you have a 1.0 or 1.1 player you are going to miss out on better than “amazing real-like graphics”. So you just wasted your $500 ducets.

With HD DVD - yes, I am prostelitising here - your spec is complete, so you get “amazing real-like graphics” all the time.

“ilovehddvd”, thanks for such critical comment. I’ve written this article with no intentions to denounce hd dvd or anything. My intention was to simply describe Blu-ray’s graphic compared to the previous technology based media.

I apologize if I haven’t clarified things out above, but I meant it would get better, as in, with more features, and not the quality itself. That “amazing real-like graphics” was just intended to describe the blu-ray itself.

I am neither a fan of Blu-ray nor HD DVD. I admit that I may not be intelligent enough to differentiate which one’s better, and I simply wanted to talk about it for those with current Blu-ray player owners. As I have not much knowledge about them, I have no right to flatter one over another, and I haven’t.

Thanks for visiting!

I hope I did not offend you too much, Lord knows my blog has its errors. My name should give away my bias towards HD DVD.

I can appreciate that I may have mischaracterized you as a fan-boy, but you article was sol glowing for Blu-ray. Most fan-boys would argue with me, but Sony has, as you said, totally screwed customers.

Thanks for clarifying about the quality issue.

And by the way, HD DVD is better becasue it is a complete format.

Alright ilovehddvd, it’s all good. I’m not much offended, but just didn’t expect this article to be like, promoting one over another since my job would be to post up interesting articles.

You say that HD DVD’s better, I wish I could see it’s quality, but my tv’s too…crap let’s say? to support that, and only time I’ve seen blu-ray was at the electronic stores.

By the way, your site’s very interesting in a way that your niche is based on a specific thing that you know well about. That’s great!
