How to Speed Up Windows Startup

msconfig.JPG

Have you ever been annoyed by how long it takes for your computer to boot?

Well here’s one of the solution that can be taken. As the window boots, it’ll start series of programs that will take up your physical memories, and eventually slow things down. So what we want to do is to eliminate any unnecessary programs from loading.

  1. Start -> Run -> Type in “msconfig” -> Run
  2. You’ll see something called “System Configuration Utility”
  3. Go to “Startup” tab, and you’ll see lists of programs as shown in the picture
  4. By looking at its directories and such, uncheck any unnecessary things that you don’t need.
  5. Apply, Ok, Restart Now or Later, your choice.
  6. Done~

If you’ve unchecked enough, you’ll see a significant difference.

Warning: Just because you want to keep your computer at its maximum speed, that doesn’t mean that you can get rid of everything on the list. As your computer may need certain things to be running such as “ctfmon”, which is needed for language purpose.

Tip: If you see something that you do not recognize, go ahead and do a simple search because you don’t want your computer to crash like it happened once for me right after I reformatted windows xp.
